The Mural Building: i.c.stars

The newest Wintrust mural features a vibrant interpretation of the positive impact i.c.stars is making on young adults in traditionally underserved areas through the strength of technology. Designed by Chicago-based artist Trotter Alexander, the mural amplifies i.c.stars’ mission of providing young adults with technology-based workforce development, community leadership training, internships, and job placement. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2024, i.c.stars also has a program in Milwaukee and in 2023 launched in Kansas City.

With the mural over the Chicago skyline during the chilliest months, the bright colors are a reminder of how the city loves its residents and how people take that love forward into creativity and innovation. As Alexander stated, “I hope viewers can take away more than one thing. I would love for them to see creativity, innovation, Chicago. I want people to see the passion.”

Building change in the tech industry

i.c.stars has recently doubled the capabilities of its Chicago office, enabling it to train and serve twice as many interns as it previously could. The expansion creates more opportunities for corporate partnerships and game-changing career launches in the coming years, according to the organization. i.c.stars has also expanded partnerships with employers they work with who see the value of nontraditional talent and are constantly on the lookout for new employers to partner with.

The Wintrust connection

i.c.stars and Wintrust have partnered since 2018. Wintrust has been proud to have the opportunity to provide support for the i.c.stars mission and workforce program in a variety of ways. From volunteers and event speakers to attending High Tea and financial support, Wintrust is happy to amplify the ways that i.c.stars transforms the lives of adults.
